PERSONALITY
J'ce is known throughout Idyllshire for his skill as a bounty hunter, his discretion, and his cold demeanor. His first and only interest when meeting strangers is whether or not they have a job for him - or whether they're going to give him trouble. Clients only come to him when nobody else will take their jobs, or when they don't trust anyone else to. And, if you give him a particularly exciting challenge - or if he can sense that you can pay him a favor down the line - he might just hear you out. But there's nothing he hates more than having his time wasted, a problem he consistently encounters when clients are referred to him by the goblins.J'ce operates via his own moral code. He doesn't care about the laws, not when he's seen what Ishgard does with them. Despite his better knowing, he won't suffer injustice or the people that perpetrate it.With his confidants, J'ce never quite lets down his guard, but it does come close. He's shown vulnerability, but only when he's assessed the threats aren't there. And when you've earned his trust, you have his loyalty.

==-- BIO-- ==
An outcast from the start. Born as Jihli’zi, J’ce was the ninth son in a Coerthan tribe of Keepers. The runt of the litter and a boy besides, it was only a matter of time before J’ce got left behind. That day came when he was eight - abandoned in the dead of winter on the border between Coerthas and Dravania. The cold should’ve taken him. The heretics got him instead.A home with the heretics. Shown care for the first time in his life by a band of heretics, a young Jihli’zi takes the name J’ce and casts his lot against Ishgard in the last decades of the Dragonsong War. Brought into the city under the guise of clemency and desperate to impress his newfound family, J’ce poses as one of the many orphans littering the Brume and feeds whatever information he overhears from the Temple Knights back to the heretics. Maybe it was indoctrination, or maybe it was love - or maybe it was the way that the Ishgardian nobility treated the entirety of the Brume like the scum of Hydaelyn. J’ce grows to harbor a lifelong resentment for the Holy See and its supporters.Turncoat and traitor. At first, it’s an honor. J’ce will drink dragon blood and gain the powers of the horde he’s so loyally served. So, too, will his closest companion Ysera, a Hyuran boy from the heart of the Brume. But Ysera expresses doubts. Where did all those who were honored go, Ysera wonders? J’ce tries to deny it, but Ysera’s question lingers. He starts to put his nose where it doesn’t belong, and when he witnesses the truth - when he and Ysera watch their compatriots ingest the blood and turn into Nidhogg’s thralls, they run. Or, at least, they tried to.Blood of the dragon. An honor becomes a punishment. The heretics force the blood down Ysera’s throat and J’ce is helpless to stop what follows. Ysera’s mind is lost before the transformation even starts. The vial comes to J’ce lips, but as he swallows the first drops, the draconic creature that was his friend erupts into a blinded rampage.
The creature lays waste to the heretics and J’ce is forced to pierce his friend’s heart with his lance. Wounded, weeks away from madness, and trapped in the heart of Dravania, J’ce consigns himself to death.A saint and a mask. But death hasn’t come for him yet. A wandering mage and disciple of the arcane by the name of Khona’sae Elakha finds J’ce in the Dravanian wilds and nurses him back to health. Khona’sae nurses J’ce back to health and, when learning of his upcoming transformation, crafts him a set of masks meant to seal J’ce’s inner dragon. The madness is forestalled, but should he ever remove the masks for more than a moment, it could take him instantly. Indebted to the healer, J’ce becomes his retainer and the two roam Dravania seeking a cure.Found again. On their quest, J’ce and Khona’sae come into contact with a band of hunters making their living in the wilds. What begins as a simple job - clear out this den of monsters; craft these potions; earn a few gil and a good night’s meal - becomes a contract, then a job, and then a community - and, if J’ce’s being honest, a family. A real one, this time, and with allegiance to neither the Holy See or Nidhogg’s thralls. The hunters even have relationships with dragons rumored to be part of the legendary Hraesvelgr’s brood, and after earning their trust, they teach J’ce how to manage his inner dragon. As loath as he is to let anyone in again - as scarred by the years in the heretics’ grasp and the Holy See’s sights - J’ce finds his family once again. Only a calamity could tear them apart.The Seventh Umbral Calamity. So many died. So, so many dead - the hunters, the dragons, Khona - all gone in the umbral blizzard that took Coerthas in the wake of Carteneau. J’ce buries who he can and nearly volunteers himself to the madness. No kind strangers to come save him. It would be so easy to slip away - to find purpose in Nidhogg’s horde. But not now. Not after so much.
Hunter for hire. His heart sealed and with nowhere else to go, J’ce sells his way back to Ishgard - back to the Brume - with information about the heretics. Even amidst the Calamity, this is enough to earn him a place within Ishgard’s walls - and a hushed reputation as a bounty hunter besides. Soon enough, hooded nobles are knocking on his door with requests requiring the discretion only an outsider can handle. And, once again, it’s not too long before things go wrong. J’ce still harbors resentment for Ishgard, still clings to a flame of revolution, and when one too many crimes by the Temple Knights go unpunished, he takes it on himself to deliver justice. But Ishgard has a justice of its own. An inquisitor reveals his heretic pass. Only by the grace of a debt incurred ushering a priestess’s sister out of the city before her own inquisition does he survive the ordeal. Once again, J’ce leaves Ishgard, intent never to return.A new frontier. The years pass. The Black Shroud shows him no kindness - their disdain for Keepers rivals even Ishgard’s propensity for hate, and once he learns of the Monetarists’ hold on Ul’dah, J’ce takes his leave of the southern half of the continent and returns to Dravania. This time, however, he’s heard a rumor - that deep in the Hinterlands, in the ruins left by Sharlayan, a frontier has formed. One with work. One that won’t care about the past. But reputations have a habit of following him. His work for the goblins is exemplary - so exemplary that it catches the ear of a merchant, then their employer, then their patron, and then nobles are once again knocking on his door with their favors. But this far from the Holy See, J’ce has the upper hand - and the experience to choose wisely. He develops a policy; he takes only the jobs no one else will. Desperation pays dividends - perhaps not in gil, but in favors.The end of the Dragonsong War. And now, in this new world that Ishgard and Dravania seek to forge? Scars aren’t so easily healed. They can have their peace; J’ce has his work.

==--✽ DO YOU HAVE A JOB FOR ME?-- == j'ce makes his living as a bounty hunter, but he's more known for taking on clients that nobody else will work with. maybe you don't have enough gil, maybe your job is too dangerous - or maybe you're about to do something that will piss off the wrong person. j'ce will take your job. but you'll owe him - especially if the job turns out to be more than either of you bargained for.==--✽ BENEATH THE MASK-- == in his past as a heretic, j'ce was made to drink dragon blood and nearly become enthralled to nidhogg. to prevent this, his companion khona'sae crafted him a set of masks imbued with arcane energy to seal his inner dragon. even with the dragonsong war ended, j'ce still fears the transformation and is willing to hear just about anyone with an idea out - even if it might hurt him.==--✽ I WON'T SUFFER INJUSTICE-- == just as dragon blood still runs hot in his veins, so too does his long-time grudge against nobility and oppression. j'ce knows better than to act the hero - but when his temper is tested, he'll go against this code and do what's necessary, if not necessarily what's right.==--✽ BLOODY ISHGARDIANS-- == the heretics may have betrayed him, but j'ce harbors decades of resentment for ishgard and its people. but with the dragonsong war ended and many looking to make amends with their former enemies, j'ce finds himself in a difficult situation - either hold on to grudges, or move on from the past.==--✽ A TEST OF FAITH-- == despite his loyalty to the heretics, j'ce found solace in the fury during his childhood in ishgard. with so much loss in his life, he's often wondered whether his patron is guarding him, testing him, or tormenting him. tenuous at best, his relationship with halone is a place of constant introspection.==--✽ LONER LOOKING IN-- == j'ce's sworn off bonds, and most are happy to have let him. but when a client isn't turned off by his demeanor, or a drinking partner lends an ear, he might be willing to forget his oath.
==--✽ RULES-- == i am generally okay with most rp, including erp, but ask that before and during scenes we have communication about expectations/preferences. if something isn't working for me, i'll tell you and ask that you respect my boundary - and if something's not working for you, i hope you'll expect the same of me!i hope this goes without saying, but my character is a different person than i am. j'ce may be antagonistic towards you or outright unkind, but conflict drives writing. please do not equate his ic behavior to my feelings towards you.please do not try to harm my character if we have not explicitly discussed it ooc first. please also do not try to remove j'ce's mask without discussing it with me first.i only rp with people aged 21 and up. i will not rp sexual violence in any form, nor will i tolerate any real world bigotry. i'm a writer who cares about my writing and i ask that you do, too. if my rp tag isn't on, please don't approach me ic, but you're more than welcome to send a tell!
==--✽ PREFERENCES-- == i prefer in-game rp over discord rp, but am fine with either. i also vastly prefer rp in the world rather than at venues. i generally prefer to have good ooc relationships with rp partners to establish trust, so if you'd like to rp with me on a regular basis, let's get to know each other. i'm open to lore-bending and exploring unexplored parts of ff14's world, but obviously, i don't want to break lore. last, i'm open to and enjoy erotic writing including one-night stands, but ask that there is opportunity for character development before, during, and after.==--✽ LOOKING FOR-- ==
